Childcare-worker wages explained on ruled notebook paper

Post caption

Childcare workers are often left out of the childcare affordability crisis conversation. But they’re a hugely important part of every working parent’s village. The people who love and care for our babies are doing some of the hardest, most valuable labor for minimum wage. When really, they deserve the world, and then some. But then the impossible logistics come into play—low ratios come with higher price tags for parents, and rising overhead costs cut into small centers’ razor-thin margins. The numbers add up to a lose-lose situation: childcare workers are severely underpaid, and childcare is severely unaffordable.
